The Country Club of Coral Gables was the axis of Coral Gables society from its founding in 1923 until a fire devastated the west end of the club in 1983. The club building is listed on the National Register of historic places and the state of Florida register of historic places; as such the restoration had to conform to the historical character of the building. The objective was to restore the previously destroyed area of the club and to renovate the remaining areas in accordance with the historic guidelines. The Country Club of Coral Gables retained CCI to develop a renovation plan.
