Mr. Yakel received his Professional Bachelors of Architecture - Design Option from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He studied both Mass Communications and History as an extensive portion of his degree plan. He is a licensed architect in multiple states and currently serves as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the firm.
Mr. Yakel joined CCI in 1984 and has participated in the design and construction of over 250 country clubs, city clubs, yacht clubs, and high-end daily fee facilities throughout the United States. He is responsible for the design and management of CCI projects and the daily operations of CCI.
Mr. Yakel served as the project architect and designer for various projects including the Dallas Petroleum Club in Dallas, Texas; High Point Country Club (Emerywood Clubhouse) in High Point, North Carolina; Canyon Gate Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada; and Hillwood Country Club in Nashville, Tennesse. His various design and construction projects include private clubs such as Oahu Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii; Lakewood Ranch Country Club in Sarasota, Florida; Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas, Texas; The Country Club of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama; and The Woodlands Country Club/Palmer Course and Player Course Clubhouses in Houston, Texas.
The clients benefit from three decades of club experience, providing a "learning curve" of design and operating knowledge, which is unequaled in the nation.
Recent projects include The Golf Club at Lansdowne Clubhouse in Leesburg, Virginia – a 48,000 sf clubhouse serving the Robert Trent Jones II and Greg Norman courses and the 300-room resort/conference center hotel. Mr. Yakel is the project manager and design architect for the new Sonatrach Petroleum Club project in Algiers, Algeria. The resort complex includes a 60,000 sf clubhouse building, a 65-room high-end hotel, and a 25,000 sf spa, fitness, and indoor pool structure all near the Mediterranean Sea on the Algerian coast.
Many of Mr. Yakel’s projects have been featured in Club Management, Golf Inc. and Club & Resort Business Magazines throughout the years. He has been a speaker and facilitator for various seminars for the Annual “Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) World Conference on Club Management” CMAA Regional/State Chapters, and Crittenden. In addition, Mr. Yakel has also authored numerous articles on private club design and management in The Board Room Magazine.
Two of Mr. Yakel’s projects familiar to club members across the nation are the extensive remodel of the 1920’s classic English Tudor Clubhouse for Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York (Home to every major professional tournament, including the US Open, PGA Championship, and the Ryder Cup) and the California Mission Style “sister club” to Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, the Poppy Ridge Golf Course Clubhouse near San Francisco, California for the Northern California Golf Association.
Mr. Yakel is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Texas Society of Architects, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
